Visit to Istana!

One day, the five fuzzie wuzzies went to the istana to visit our dearest PM and his cabinet!

However, some of the fuzzie wuzzies got a little sidetracked upon alighting the shuttle bus which brought them from the entrance of istana to the tentage where the buffet was.

After the satisfactory shot which marked a fantabulous start to the evening, the fuzzie wuzzies continued with their agenda - FOOD!

and DRINKS!

In the midst of digging in, the fuzzie wuzzies didn't forget to mark their presence among the other visitors...

Sadly, we missed the opportunity to take a pic with PM Lee all because the fuzzie wuzzies were too engrossed with the ahem, FOOD.

Nonetheless, we had great fun at the istana doing very intelligent stuff.

and looking good to match the very posh ambience at the istana...

Being so devoted to YEC, we also brought back something for the rest of us!

YEC retreat/team building 2008

The best way to describe the awesome, kickass, super duper wonderful YEC retreat/team-building which concluded on a quiet note this morning at NACLI (with good reason why it was quiet too. Everyone was still sedated from the night's events. wooooooooooooooo!:P) is definitely through PHOTOGRAPHS!!!!! woohoo!

So presenting to you, the event which took NACLI by storm;)

BBQ kicked start the retreat amidst misty evening rain. Over sumptuous good food, good company and of course, the monthly YEC meeting to conclude the first night, most of us (actually the older foggies of YEC who decided we needed the beauty sleep) retired while the younger punks and some other old foggies (who decided to try their luck hustling with the young members) stayed up for a monopoly showdown.

2nd day was spent at PULAU UBIN with 3 important missions. The team of Han Wei, Yee Ting and Riduan set out for a recce for an upcoming YEC event while the second team stayed on for a mini team-building session involving a series of highly amusing stations and a captain's ball session with tomatoes in place of balls. The last important mission was to make one unnamed member who was handicapped by his/her inability to cycle learn how to cycle in PULAU UBIN (the island of scary rocky sloping terrains) **Anonymity has been ensured to protect and safeguard the interest of this unfortunate individual whose cycling feat has been made the brunt of people's jokes for a long time.**

In case you were wondering, the unnamed individual succeeded in the seemingly uphill task under the patient tutelage of fellow YEC members:)

The author is currently suffering from a severe mental block and has decided to stop blogging about the retreat. Fellow YEC members please help to fill the gaps in events:D

One Big Christmas Nite

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

How apt indeed. Just that instead of snow this year, there was SO MUCH RAIN. Where did all that water come from? gosh. It was my first Christmas in the heartlands and indeed, my first time hosting a Christmas event as well with my new co-host, Riduan:) Helping out for community events is always an experience. In spite of the downpour, everyone was in good spirits, prancing and buzzing around. It was as though Christmas had this magical factor, this inexplicable cohesive element that brings people from different walks of life together.

It doesn't show signs of pausing,
And I've bought some corn for popping,
The lights are turned way down low,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

We had our very own resident Uncle Santa Claus, our guest Santarinas from Nanyang YEC who looked adorable and exquisite enough to be placed on the shelf (no pun intended:P)

Two elves from YEC who appeared to have escaped from Lapland and looking totally tacky on stage wielding microphones and the rest of YEC members donning red Santa hats with balloons tied to the ends. Totally dorky and HILARIOUS;) It was madness on the loose with everyone having the time of their lives looking silly. Probably the only things missing were the REINDEERS.

Christmas, that time of the year when joy is in the air, where friendships are being renewed, where faith is restored as we all contemplate for a brief moment, what it felt like having a year drawing to a closure. Merry Christmas to one and all, I had loads of fun at One Big Christmas Nite here at Nanyang:)

Bus 99: Loop bus service from Clementi Temp Interchange. Goes from Clementi to Boon Lay Way, Jurong East before looping in Jurong West. Alight at Stop 1.

Bus 179: Loop bus service from Boon Lay Temp Interchange. Primarily serves Jurong West residents and plys along Jurong West Street 63, Pioneer Road North & Nanyang Drive. Alight at Stop 3.

Bus 185: A two directional bus service from North Buona Vista Terminal/Soon Lee Express. Goes from Buona Vista to Holland, Commonwealth, Clementi, PIE, Jurong East, Jurong West, Pioneer Road North before terminating at Soon Lee Express. From Soon Lee Express, alight at Stop 2.
